Trudging Along - February 10 & 11

Progress is being made. A little slower than I might like, but progress none the less! Some rewiring of the electrical had to be done with the kitchen remodel and once up in the attic my Dad and Grandfather found quite the mess. Apparently at some point the same half of the house we are remodeling was once done before, except that when they did the electrical at that point they did it wrong. According to Grandpa it was a nightmare! Thankfully though it was caught and able to be corrected which eliminates any fire hazards in the future, so that's a good thing. Below are photos of my Dad adn Grandpa working in the utility room on the breaker box and then Grandpa working in the kitchen area redoing electrical for the new lighting, a photo of the kitchen competely ripped out and then the new french doors are installed!

Alex, the kids, and I went over last night to see what progress had been made with the taping and mudding and this is what we found. Still quite a ways to go, but again, progress is being made. I don't think our origianal date of move in (weekend of the 20th) will be happening, but we'll just have to wait and see. Ethan found Daddy's power tool and figured out how to make it work! Emma the superstar and Alex are checking out the kitchen area (notice the line in the ceiling where the original wall was taken down), a view of the dining and new french doors, the kids "working" on the house, and the kitchen area drywalled up.

Tonight when Alex gets home from work he will go over there and tonights project is scraping off all the popcorn on the cieling in the entire room (kitchen, dining, living), it's quite the project and it's going to be VERY messy...but must be done before the new texture goes up on the ceiling and walls.
