The Mask

Our Little Trooper

So here it is. The mask. Ethan's Darth Vader mask as Daddy calls it! :) As most of you know from the previous post Ethan was a very sick little boy over Christmas and the day after Christmas we found out he has pneumonia. So now we get to do 4 breathing treatments a day with albuterol and his lovely car nebulizer (see pic below). Considering all things I am actually very surprised with how well he's doing with the treatments, all in all it takes about 10-15 minutes for the medication to finish steaming and he has to sit there with his little fish mask on breathing it all in.

How did Santa know we would need a special chair to keep Ethan still and happy this Christmas? Ethan got this little storytime and song chair from Nana & Papa and it has been a lifesaver. He does play with it all throughout the day because it's so much fun, but Mommy also tells him it's time for his mask and he will run over to his chair and sit right down like a good boy. He also has "Squeeze" in his hand in the picture below which goes to his Handy Manny Toolbox he got as well.

Today is Tuesday, December 30th and everyone around our house is doing MUCH better. Emma and I are back to normal health other than she still has a slight runny nose. Ethan is a totally different little boy and actually slept through the night last night, Thank you Jesus! Alex did only end up getting a cold/flu which didn't turn into bronchitis and for that we are very thankful. We will continue with Ethan's breathing treatments for the next 3 weeks and then take him back to the Pediatrican for a follow up checkup to make sure his lungs are all clear. Alex and I are thankful this is all behind us and pray that the coming weeks and months bring much healthier children!
