Staycation Day 3 - Library

On day three of our Staycation we took a trip to the Lakeland Public Library. We go at least once every 2 weeks and all the librarians know Emma and Ethan by name! My kids have always enjoyed reading (this may have something to do with the fact that their Daddy began reading to them while they were in my belly!). Alex and I have tried to instill a love for reading into them as our parents/grandparents instilled in us. My mom took us to the Library growing up, and Alex will tell you his Grammie always took them to the Library, in fact he and his brother Aaron once read the ENTIRE encyclopedia from A-Z one summer!



Looking thru the DVD's for something new. We were able to get several movies on Thanksgiving.

This is their favorite isle of books. This is the "easy reader" section and Emma and Ethan always run over here, they always know exactly what kind of books they want before they get to the library (Dora, Diego, Tinkerbell, Barbie, etc) and then it's a treasure hunt for them to find them. I'm starting to show them that the books are alphabatized and Emma is beginning to grasp that a little bit.

We have a great kids room in our Library since they've remodeled it from when I was a kid (I feel old just saying that!). There are tables with crayons and papers that they can color and of course the puzzle tables that Ethan will sit for hours at if we'd let him. There is also a computer lab that has computers with preschoolers aged games/activites loaded onto them and Emma is always wanting to get on those!
