Growing!
We took Emma and Ethan for their well visits with Dr. Enlow on Thursday morning. Alex had the day off and went with me, which I was very greatful for as taking two energetic, non physician loving preschoolers to the Pediatrician's office was not something I was looking forward to doing on my own! We had our last "catch up" visit and other than annual flu shots the kids are good until Kindergarten on immunizations! YAY!
Emma is growing like a weed. I often find myself looking at her throughout the week, and while being so proud of her and LOVING the age she is at, it makes me sad to know my first little baby is growing up so soon! Emma was such a brave girl for us at Dr. Enlows office, the poor child has been thru the ringer with all the Sinus infections she had prior to her surgery in March. However, we have noticed a HUGE difference in her since then, Praise Jesus! Emma climbed right up on the "big changing table" (as she calls it) and told her Daddy and me that she would be a "brave princess for us".....she let Dr. Enlow check her nose, throat, ears and eyes and never cried one bit (this is a huge change from the child that took me and 2 nurses to hold down just so her previous pediatrician could even examine her!). Emma wieghed in at 41.6 lbs (95%) and was 42" (90%) tall! She had one booster shot to get as well as the flu mist and was such a trooper for her immunization!
Ethan is also growing, as Dr. Enlow said "he has boys legs".....you know the legs with all the cuts, scrapes and bruises on them! He is our accident prone child, much to my fears these days, as he has NO fears and will frequently give me heart attacks throughout the week. Ethan has actually been sick much less since Emma is not passing everything along to him, he does however still struggle with the allergies and asthma but we are working to get those both under control and I'm noticing an improvement with the prescription changes. He's at that age where he is not very fond of Dr. Enlow, and poor little guy after Thursday's visit will never want to enter her office again as he had to get 4 immunizations (Flu, DTAP, Hep A, and Chicken Pox vaccines). It was quite traumatic for the little dude but her survived and is none worse for the wear (a little fever for 24 hours after). Ethan weighed in at 29.2 lbs (70%), is 35.5" (90%) tall, with a head circumfrence of 48.5" (85%). Thankfully little man is now caught up on his immunizations which makes a Momma a little less concerned!
I love my kids more than I can ever explain and I am SO thankful that I am able to stay home with them and not have to send them to daycare. Emma and Ethan are such joys and they bring so much laughter to Alex and I. They are actually playing together very well these days, and their most favorite thing to play is Make Believe! Every once in a while you will hear Ethan "roaring" at Emma as he chases her down the hallway playing Monsters or Dragons, or they will both be sitting together in the middle of the kitchen floor and inform me that they are on an Airplane to Egypt, or China, or Africa. Princesses, Kings, Queens, Chefs, Policeman, and Cowboys are just a few of the characters they become on a dailiy basis. Emma loves to play with her baby dolls, dressing them up, feeding them, or making them take a nap! Ethan loves Motorcycles, Dump Trucks and building towers with his blocks. Unfortunately he also enjoys playing dress up with Emma, which as this stage in time involves purses, jewelry, princess dresses and Mommies shoes (Need I say this will change after his birthday in November....we have plans for some boy dress up!). Oh to be a kid again, when all the cares in the world are finding out what you want to play next, or getting excited just because your favorite cartoon is coming on next, and knowing that Mommy and Daddy have everything else taken care of. Taking pleasure in the little things, the simple things....we as adults forget to do this too often. I treasure our kids and the age they are at and LOVE every minute of being their Mommy!
