Emma's first ER visit

I knew the day would eventually come, but honestly I thougth it would be for a broken arm or some fashion of injury from their wild play. Emma's first trip to the ER however was for a coughing episode in which she coughed and could not stop for nearly 3 hours. So after a few calls to the pediatrician on call off we went to the ER since she couldn't stop coughing and was having trouble catching her breath. They diagnosed her in the ER with Bronchiospasms, which is basically an asthma attack. It sounds like she has bronchitis but with no fever it isn't. Apparently since Ethan has resperatory issues it's fairly normal for siblings to have problems as well and for whatever reason her symptoms didn't develop until she was three. Needless to say our visit to the ER was not a fun one (but really, is one ever?), She was a pretty good girl considering all things, she had a steriod treatment, chest xrays, and two breathing treatments which was bar far the worst of all of the three, she DID NOT like the guy who did the breathing treatments and we had a serious episode of the terrible twos/threes! We were sent home with the steroids for 5 days and breathing treatments 2x daily for 5 days, needless to say Mommy had to have a conversation with Emma about these breathing treatments.

After we got her calmed down and told her she had to do it by herself like a big girl and stop pitching a fit this is the photo I took. It actually looks like she is crying in this picture but she's smiling (you just can see her mouth). It's been much easier the last few days and now she is doing her "breatment treetments" on her own.

Let's hope that's the last ER visit for a while...although Ethan scares me on a daily basis with his jumping/climbing/being a boy!
