AWANA

We have two little AWANA Cubbies on our hands! I have such admiration for the AWANA program as I was in it as a child, worked as a leader before the kids were born, and now have the priveledge of seeing my own two children participate. We started going to Crestview Baptist Church on Wednesday nights, several of our friends from playgroup attend there so the kids started off knowing friends already!

We ordered their Vests & Cubbie Books the first night and they came in two weeks ago. To say that Emma and Ethan were proud would be the understatement of the year! Every Wednesday night they don their Vests, grab their Bibles and Cubbie Books and can't wait to get to AWANA to say their verse to their teacher!
Emma is excelling as always and making lot's of new friends! She works on her weekly verses so diligently and is so in tune with the things of Jesus right now. Her heart is so tender and it just makes me realize and understand more and more what Jesus was saying when He told us to come to Him like a little child!

Ethan is doing amazing as well! He works just as hard as his big sister in learning his verses and he keeps right up with her! Every week he comes home having learned a new praise song or Bible story. His favorite song right now is "This Little Light of Mine" which he knows all the words and motions to and he will lay in bed at night singing quietly. It just melts my heart!

Emma and Ethan are pretty much always talking to each other, and lately it's been so amazing to hear them talk about all the things of Jesus and how much Jesus loves them, or to listen to them in their playroom as they "read" Bible stories to their babies and animal friends. One other thing I have to share so that I won't ever forget is being in the car the other day listening to a C.D. when part of a song came on by Chris Sligh called "Empty Me" and a particular lyric caught Ethan's attention "Empty me...of the poison of my pride" to which he asks me "Momma what's poison in my heart?" I then got to explain to him how our sin is like poison in our lives and hearts, but that when we ask Jesus to forgive our sin he takes all the poison away and cleans us new! Emma and Ethan both asked if they could pray and ask Jesus to take away their poison and help them be good kids, and they proceeded to pray such simple prayers to Jesus right their in the carseats inside the car! Praise God for simple lessons that come in ordinary circumstances! As Parents Alex and I are learning new lessons of Jesus' love every day just by teaching our children about His love...when you explain Jesus in a way that a child can understand it just brings the whole story of Christ's love into a whole new light for us as adults!

So this morning I pray again this song for my own life
"Lord Empty ME so I can be filled by YOU!
