2009 - Christmas Afternoon at Gigi & Pop Pop's
Christmas afternoon we went over to Alex's parents house and enjoyed a very yummy lunch together and all got to sit together at Trina's big new table that Papa Bates built for her this year. The kids of course had their own table...you know the one we all used to sit at before having the privilege of moving up to the "big table".
Gigi played "Santa" and got the honors of passing out all the gifts to the very impatient grandchildren! (In the kids defense we ate lunch before gift time and they had been pretty good)
The look on Uncle Aaron's (Alex's brother) face is just about priceless! I had just realized the present that he and Angel, Charles and Isabella gave to Emma....Tinkerbell Lip gloss and Body Glitter. Although, what is it they say about paybacks? I guess we had it coming to us since we got Charles the Dora Doll...yes, I said doll...for his birthday last year! LOL! On a side note Emma was ecstatic about her new Tinkerbell "make up" as she calls it.
Aunt Aimee, Gabe, and Gavin got Emma a Barbie Doll. She LOVES Barbie Dolls and was very excited to open this particular gift!
Isabella got a dress up set from us, and Emma had to "help" her open it. Emma had helped me wrap the present and could hardly contain herself before Isabella opened it....it's a girl thing!
Uncle Aaron and cousin Charles admiring one of Charles gifts.
Ethan finally got to open a gift of his own! Gigi & Pop Pop got him a soccer ball and goal for the backyard. Since I'm posting this well after Christmas (give me a break people, we've had quite the start to 2010...but that's another post) little man is pretty good with the old soccer ball! He loves being outside and is enjoying all his new big boy toys.
Emma is showing Pop Pop her cupcake maker. She was THRILLED to say the least...she's always in the kitchen with us and trying to help me bake and cook so she was VERY happy about this gift. In fact she wanted to bake as soon as we got home Christmas night, we did convince her to wait until the next day...but I only have 1 of 8 refill mixes left and it's only January 21st!
We had a great Christmas day. So very busy and so enjoyable. We have so much to be thankful for, but most of all that God sent his son Jesus to be our true Gift. Our kids definitely enjoyed all the presents and the magic of Santa but it made my day when they said their prayers Christmas night and thanked Jesus for all their new toys and gifts and thanked him for coming to the manger for them! They get it in their own little ways.
