Walt Disney World 2010 - Part One

We had our very first trip to Walt Disney world the weekend after Thanksgiving. Alex and I had been saving our Disney Give A Day Get A Day tickets since January and we had been saving $$ for the resort and spending all year long! We kept it a surprise trip as we knew if we told the kids they would ask every day up until it was time! It was all I could do to keep it a surprise, I wanted to tell them so badly! Ethan actually got sick the week of Thanksgiving and I had already taken Ethan to the doctor on Friday morning, Emma of course woke up sick over the weekend so off we went to see Dr. Enlow on Sunday morning before leaving town. We were able to get the antibiotics into her fast enoug that the bronchitis didn't get bad and it certainly didn't seem to slow her down too much while we were there! Mom, Dad, and the girls spent Thanksgiving in Colorado so we had to take their vehicle and drop it off at the airport (so they could save $$ in long term parking) so the kids thought we were just going to pick up Nana & Papa...but after we dropped off the truck we headed towards Disney and we FINALLY got to tell them where we wer actually going! They both freaked out, screaming and hollering and so excited! We headed to our resort first to get checked in - we stayed at Disney's All Star Movie Resort and it was awesome! The resort was themed all around movies such as Toy Story (Ethan was in Heaven!), 101 Dalmation, Herby the Love Bug, Fantasia, and Darkwing Duck. It was a great resort!
When we checked in to our resort the kids both received "First Visit" Badges which they immediately displayed very proudly! They were them the entire 3 days we were there!

Another cool perk of staying at a Disney Resort is the use of the Disney Transportation system. It was really nice to be able to walk right out of our room and out to the bus stops and catch a bus to the theme park, or on the first night we were there to Downtown Disney where we met Tyler & Krisia for a little shopping and Dinner. The kids thought it was awesome to be riding a Disney Bus! But they couln't figure out why they didn't have to wear seatbelts...that one was a little difficult to explain, but I think we did a pretty good job!

Emma and Ethan had been saving their allowance money for "when" we did go to Disney. We brought it along and they thought they were hot stuff picking out whatever they wanted (that they could afford) and then going to the register themselves to pay for it! Emma bought a Princess Make Up/Make Over set, and Ethan bought a Pirates of the Caribbean sword, hat, and eye patch.

We walked all around Downtown Disney and had a great time while we waited for our dinner reservations.

We ate at the Rainforest Cafe'. It was pretty cool and the kids enjoyed all the rainforest life. Our table was right beside the Elephants and Emma LOVED those! Ethan was not too fond of the rainstorms that came very 20 minutes but after the 2nd one he chilled out a bit. We had a great dinner with Tyler & Krisia and it was an awesome way to start out our first night of our Walt Disney World trip. After Dinner and some dessert at Ghiradelli we headed back to our resort to get the kids to bed, because the next day would be our day at Magic Kingdom!
